Accessibility Statement

General Information

We have worked to include a number of features to make this site as accessible as possible to all of our visitors. These features should work with assistive technologies to help make our site usable to the broadest possible audience. If you need more help with the site, please send us an email from the Contact Us page. We also provide a link to this page at bottom of every page on the site.

If you use the JAWS screen reader, be aware that JAWS is designed to work best with Internet Explorer. If you are using JAWS with another browser, JAWS may not be able to use all of the accessibility features on this site.

Access Keys

All pages on this site use the following Access keys for common tasks:

Most web browsers support linking to specific pages by typing named access keys:

The top navigation common to all pages contains a ‘Skip to Content’ link for visitors using speech browsers or keyboard navigation who want to avoid repeated listings of links.

Visual Design

This site uses Cascading Style Sheets or CSS. CSS tells the browser how to display our content to you, from the size and color of the fonts to what images are shown on the page. Some browsers let you turn off stylesheets, while other older or text-only browsers do not use these at all. All graphics content on our site has text equivalents, so your viewing experience will only be affected slightly by not using stylesheets.

Text Size

You can change the size of the text from your browser to make it larger or smaller. See your browser help to learn about this, or use our instructions below for your browser:

Tab Order
This website is arranged so that you may tab between navigation elements, links, and form fields quickly and logically without using your mouse.
Links
Certain links have TITLE attributes set to describe the target in greater detail. If you are using a screenreader or other technology, set your screen reader options to take full advantage of this feature.
Images
Any image used in this site includes a descriptive ALT attribute except for purely decorative images.
Acronyms and Abbreviations
Browsers that support the acronym and abbreviation tags (most except Internet Explorer) will show a fine dotted underline beneath these items in the content. You can hover over acronyms or abbreviations to see expanded versions or have these versions read to you if you are using a screenreader. Examples of this effect appear on this page.
Generally, we provide descriptions for the first appearence of the acronym or abbreviation on the page unless we provide an expanded version right before (e.g., “Cascading Stylesheets, or CSS”). We will provide additional acronym or abbreviation tags if the word or phrase is either uncommon or better read aloud fully expanded.
Form Validation
If you make an error while entering information into our Information Request form, your data will not be cleared during the submission process. Instead, the form will retain your entered data so you do not have to re-enter anything except for corrections. We verify and process your information on the server, so you do not need Javascript to see this feature.
Flash
This site does make use of a Flash interactive animation on the Coaching page. If you do not have Flash, or you’ve disabled Flash in your browser, you will see a static image of the same graphic with a text description if you are on a screen reader or text-only browser.
Tables
We only have one simple table on this site. However, the table uses SUMMARY and CAPTION attributes to help describe the contents, and we’ve attempted to build our table to respond to common screen reader navigation functions.
Guidelines
In the development of this site, we followed the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to provide a Level II degree of accessibility. We applied guidelines based on a combination of web accessibility tools, best practice recommendations in the field of web accessbility, and common sense.
Additionally, all pages comply with the specifications described as the W3C HTML 4.01 Strict document type, and all of our stylesheets comply with the guidelines for CSS 2. Additionally, we have a P3P compact privacy policy in place.
